The principle of “Serving the Community” is embodied in our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, one of which is the Jadhavwadi Water Conservation Project.
Jadhavwadi village, located in Koregaon tehsil of Satara district in Maharashtra, India, is home to 827 people. This village is situated on the right side of the Talye East watershed. Over the years, the villagers have faced numerous hardships: scarce availability of drinking water, difficulty in obtaining fodder, insufficient water for Kharif and Rabi seasons, and a general lack of awareness about water and soil conservation. With the ongoing shortage of water along with these challenges Optima Life Sciences felt it the need of the hour to step up and try to make a difference.
Partnering with Gram Gourav Pratishthan (GGN), a dedicated NGO, and with the help of locals the main aim was to tackle the water conservation issues in Jadhavwadi. The project’s scope included several key activities aimed at resolving the village’s water woes. The primary focus was on repairing and enhancing the percolation tank through desilting 12,200 cubic meters of silt. This effort increased the water storage capacity of the tank, which is vital for the village’s water supply.
Our commitment to this initiative was demonstrated through covering the entire project cost. In a way underscoring Optima’s dedication to improving the well-being of the community it serves.
The project was successfully completed, with water levels rising significantly due to the much-needed rains in the area. The sense of relief and satisfaction among the villagers of Jadhavwadi was palpable. The project’s completion marked a turning point for the village, promising a more secure water future.
As the rains continue to bless Jadhavwadi, the man-made pond will fill up, providing a reliable water source for drinking and agricultural purposes. The sight of the pond filling up with water is a testament to the success of the project and the positive impact it has had on the village.
